The Fred Bear Board broke ground after being approved by the City of Grayling to place a statue of Fred Bear in the city park.

It took many months to reach our goal of $100,000 and set up the work to be done with a world reknowned scuptor. Ben Watts lives in Mississippi and has spent over 18 months sculpting and creating the Fred Bear Statue. It was carefully designed by the Fred Board Board members and our expert bow hunter Tom Jenkins. They wanted to make sure every detail was perfect and true to Fred Bear's character, right down to him being a left handed bow hunter and the tree foliage that was tucked in his Borsalino hat.
